Rio Ferdinand was given a red card in Manchester United’s match against Hull City, striking Craig Fagan. The Football Association imposed an extra match ban, so the red devils’ defender should be stay 3 matches, but he decided to appeal against the extra suspenssion.
The appeal board cand revoke the extra ban, but also can increase it. If Rio Ferdinand will get an another extra ban for his strike, he will miss the Carling Cup final with Aston Villa, on February 28.

Italy, the world champion, has got the same base for the World Cup as last year’s Confederations Cup from South Africa. The training base is located at Southdowns College between Johannesburg and Pretoria and the squad will train there between the 11th of June and the 11th of July.
Italy was drawn with Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia in Group F, being firm favourites to go to the next round. Last year the team was unlucky because they have lost with Egypt and Brazil, at the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Even if the transfer deadline has passed, the manager of Sunderland, Steve Bruce, hopes that Manchester City’s striker, Benjani Mwaruwari will join his team.
“I think we’ve lodged everything it in time, we’ve done everything we possibly can and I’m convinced we had everything in in time.” said Bruce.
Benjani is a Zimbabwean football player, 31 years old and he scored 6 goals for Manchester City in 23 matches.
“The Black Cats” also signed on loan Tottenham’s defender, Alan Hutton yesterday.

The Ivorian striker of FC Sevilla, Arouna Kone, have signed a loan deal with Hanover 96 for 6 months. The former PSV Eindhoven player missed most of the last season, due to a serious knee injury.
The 26 years old striker moved to Sevilla in 2007 for a record fee of 12 million euros. Kone played 39 matches for FC Sevilla scoring only one goal for 2 years. The spanish club’s official web page wrote that the german club didn’t have option for a future permanent transfer.

Blackburn’s striker, Benni McCarthy, has signed a contract with “Hammers” for 18 months. The fee of the transfer is undisclosed. The former Porto player said on Sky Sports News that he is very happy for joining Gianfranco Zola’s club and he is “looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates and help get the club out of a tough situation.”
The 32 years old striker has scored 37 goals in 109 matches for Blackburn and now he is ready for new adventures at a new club. “I felt I served my time at Blackburn and I am sad that I never had the chance to say thanks to the fans as they have been brilliant to me”, the player said.

Yesterday was the deadline day for the transfers. One of the latest moves was Middlesbrough’s winger, Adam Johnson to Manchester City. The fee of the transaction wasn’t officially announced, but rumours are saying that Boro will get £7 million for the player.
Roberto Mancini, the manager of City said on the club’s official webpage (mcfc.co.uk) that he is “delighted that Adam has chosen to come here. He is a very good player with fantastic potential, and as a club we are always keen to sign British talent.”
The former player of Boro said that there are many reasons for the move, but the main reasons is that he wants to be a better than ever. “I’m glad to be signed and ready to go. There are a lot of reasons for the move. City are a club going places and they are doing very well. I wanted to come and try to better myself instead of staying in my comfort zone at Middlesbrough. I want to be the best player I can possibly be and I think that is going to be the case coming to City and playing with world-class players. When a big club comes in for you life’s too short to turn down an opportunity like this. I was wanting it to happen quite badly and I’m dying to get started now”, said the player.

Tottenham’s striker, Robbie Keane, has moved on loan at Celtic Glasgow for 6 months. Harry Redknapp, the former manager of the Irish player, has said: “It’s a good move because Robbie is a good player and he needs to play. He wants to play all the time. Here he wasn’t playing regularly. But he loves his football; he’s a great trainer, a great man about the place.”
Tony Mowbray, the manager of Celtic Glasgow said that the 29 years old Keane is the last transfer for the Scottish team on the transfer market. Celtic have signed also Diomansy Kamara and Edson Braafheid.

Because of a poor form, Valladolid have sacked their coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar. The replacement will be from the second team, Real Valladolid B, Onesimo Sanchez, and he will be presented tomorrow.
Mendilibar promoted the team into the first division two years ago as Segunda Division champions and led them to 15th and 16th-placed finishes over the last two seasons.
Valladolid’s 1-1 draw against Almeria was the last match for Mendilibar as a coach. The team is now on the 17th place with only one point above the relegation zone.

Arsenal’s winger Andrei Arshavin said on his personal webpage (www.arshavin.eu) that there are still chances that his team to clinch the English Premier League trophy at the end of the championship, even if the london club have lost yesterday against Manchester United with 1-3 on Emirates Stadium.
The Russian player thinks that Arsenal will challenge for the title if they will be Chelsea and Liverpool: “It is getting even harder to believe that we can win first place after such defeats. I divide the games with Aston Villa, Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool into two parts – the first part has been held, there are still two more games, I hope we will conduct them better.”

Hull City have rejected a £5 million bid from Wolverhampton for the irish winger Stephen Hunt. This offer was the fourth for the player from Wolves, and all were rejected by “The Tigers”.
Even if Hunt’s club have debts of £9million, they have stated that the player will remain at the club: “In response to further released speculation, the club have received a verbal offer of £5million for Stephen Hunt. This has been completely rejected and we are not expecting any further bids.”
