The Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri pledged for four years at Liverpool.

The arrival of Cavalieri, 25, who played so far for the Brazilian club Palmeiras, makes it very uncertain the future of French Charles Itandje, lining up to present holder Pepe Reina. “I know it will not be easy to join the team. I have watched matches in the Championship and Liverpool in the Champions League last season and I know that Pepe is a very good goalkeeper,” said Cavalieri which makes no mention of Itandje.

Arriving in July 2007 after having worn the colours of Lens, Itandje has played seven matches for Liverpool national Cups.
